As part of the front-end team of 5 designers and 8 developers (et al), my position entails identifying areas of improvement and/or potential user problems to give the customer the best possible experience and maximize revenue for the company.

  • Work within a Perl HTML::TEMPLATE environment.
  • Concept design solutions and hand-code directly into the application templates, ensuring multiple browser support and to web standards.
  • Multi variant testing of new features across the website.
  • Analyze and Report new features.
  • CVS checkout of code to front-end servers, ensuring the minimum amount of downtime.

As part of Research and Development, this position involved evaluating processes to improve usability and conversion across the activehotels.com platform (consumer and affiliate sites).

In addition to design-based projects, during 2002-2003 I lectured at Croydon College. Teaching BA (Hons) Photomedia to first year students and held Photography workshops and Technical Studies modules for other BA courses such as Fashion. Additionally I taught Multimedia applications (PhotoShop, DreamWeaver, etc) to BA students, across years 1-3 and all art based courses.

Working within a small team environment meant I was able to gain invaluable experience in a variety of areas, including client facing, managing projects & project planning. Our workload consisted of Web, CD-ROM and video graphics.
